Lululemon Footwear Launch
The Challenge:
Lululemon previously contracted out third party manufacturers for their footwear offerings in store. However this approach wasn’t truly representative of the brand, and didn’t have the same drive toward high quality design and materials that Lululemon is known for. Lululemon launched a team to design and develop the first in-house footwear products. Nick was the 9th member of that team that started right before the Covid outbreak. From uncertainty, supply chain issues, and hundreds of design concept revisions, the team was able to go from idea to product on shelf.
The Solution:
Because there was no pre-existing Lululemon designed footwear, we were in charge of driving the direction and setting the foundation for the initial launch. This was an incredibly important and prominent position, as this would be the brands first step into the footwear world. We had multiple design agencies pitch proposals, and internal designers working with them, and our engineering and biomechanics team. Nick was responsible, as the initial 3D Designer, for establishing the 3D pipeline to model, scan materials, 3D print, and render out concepts as they were developed. He also created key concepts for the Olympics concept boot, and custom concepts for the C-Suite to get buy in on the Footwear line.
